Bach, Gershwin & Piazzolla

In the anniversary year of the Cologne Classical Ensemble, the Astor Trio presents a rousing programme from its great successes. Sonatas by Johann Sebastian Bach are combined with the artful tango compositions of Astor Piazzolla, culminating in the new arrangement of Piazzolla's famous "Porteñas" - the seasons in Buenos Aires.

The "Buenos Aires Fantasy", which Tobias Kassung wrote for his own trio, is also a homage to Piazzolla and his hometown. And with pieces from Gershwin's "Porgy & Bess", the three exceptional musicians celebrate their high virtuosity and once again bridge the gap between classical music and jazz.

The three musicians of the Astor Trio have succeeded in the rare feat of establishing a completely new and unusual chamber music instrumentation in classical music, thus delighting audiences and critics alike. The Astor Trio brings together violin, guitar and double bass. Alexander Prushinskiy, violinist and first concertmaster of the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra, has joined forces with guitarist Tobias Kassung and the solo bassist of the WDR Symphony Orchestra, Stanislav Anischenko, to form this rare combination.
