Every year, Tobias Kassung presents a different duo or trio combination with guitar, thrilling audiences in the process. The cello and guitar duo last performed in Bonn four years ago. That's a long time for such creative and dynamic artists as these two.
So now we can once again look forward to the latest programme, ‘Nachtstücke – zwischen Traum und Tango’ (Nocturnes – between dream and tango). Romantic nocturnes and adagios by Burgmüller, Glinka and Beethoven perfectly express the intimate sound of the cello and guitar. With Kassung's own new piece and Raffaele Bellafrente's brilliant tango, the duo brings to life not only the contemplative side of the ‘Nachtstücke’ but also the exuberant nightlife. And everything culminates in the ‘Quatre rêves’ by Parisian composer Mathias Duplessy, who has set the exuberant nightlife of the French metropolis to rousing music in his four musical dreams.
Programme:
Frédéric Burgmüller (1806-1874): Deux Nocturnes; Michail I. Glinka (1804-1857): Remembrance; Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924): Après un Rêve, op. 7 No. 1; Tobias Kassung (*1977): Capriccio à la lumière du sud, op. 16; Raffaele Bellafronte (*1961): Tango; Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827): Adagio cantabile (from Klaviersonate Nr. 8 op. 13); Ernest Bloch (1880-1959): Prayer (No. 1 „From Jewish Life”); Traditional from Palestine: Lamma Bada Yatathana; Mathias Duplessy (*1972): Sonate pour violoncelle et guitare en quatre rêves
