BAD URACH: 8CELLI

Tickets
Herbstliche Musikltage Bad Urach, Amanduskirche

Our eight outstanding cellists come together again in this ensemble to bring the impressive sound of eight cellos to the stage at the Bad Urach Autumn Music Days. No other string instrument is as versatile and masters both high and low registers as well as vocal melodies, bass foundation and fast rhythms.

With their varied and special programme, which makes the most of the full range of instruments, the 8CELLI regularly rouse audiences to standing ovations. At the centre of the programme are the ‘Estaciones Porteñas’ (Four Seasons) by Astor Piazzolla as well as wonderful arrangements of romantic works by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Another highlight awaits the audience with ‘Ária’ from the Bachianas Brasileiras by Heitor Villa-Lobos. Together with soprano Paula Jeckstadt, the 8Celli will perform this impressive work.
The ‘Suite en quatre mouvements’ by Tobias Kassung will also be performed. It was premiered in 2022 at the Altes Kurhaus Aachen and was commissioned by the Landesmusikrat NRW. In four movements, the suite is musically dedicated to the highly topical subject of populism and the dangers to our democracy. With great seriousness, but also with a great deal of humour and confidence, the result is wonderful, emotionally gripping music.
