6. Chamber Concert 2021: UWAGA!

Kölnischer Kunstverein, Hahnenstraße 6, 50667 Köln

Classic. Mozart, Mahler & Co. Recomposed.

Originally, UWAGA! were set to play in December 2020, but of course the concert had to be canceled due to the lockdown. But we definitely wanted to have this magnificent ensemble play live in front of a large audience and are therefore inviting them again.

Daring playfulness, dizzying tempos, a rousing performance and the improper, almost audacious handling of classical instruments and cultural assets - with these few words the field in which Christoph König, Maurice Maurer, Miroslav Nisic and Matthias Hacker move is already outlined quite aptly.
Founded in 2007, UWAGA! takes of the 'classical fundus', which is rich in immortal compositions, and presents selected masterpieces in a unique and idiosyncratic way.

Tchaikovsky's ballet suites definitely had disco potential, Mahler composed masterful jazz themes and baroque was pure rock 'n' roll, according to the four musicians. You already guessed it: The name UWAGA! - Polish and means ATTENTION! - is the program.
Whether stylistic influences from jazz, Balkans and funk or virtuoso improvisation - in its new interpretations the quartet enriches the classical music with something that the traditional concert business does not know. The way the four musicians play is also unconventional to say the least: a violin as a funky rhythm guitar, fat basses from the accordion or percussion with a double bass? Naturally!

With this refreshing mixture of exuberant musicality and stylistic impartiality, UWAGA! celebrates successes all over the world: be it in the Konzerthaus Dortmund, at the Expo 2010 in Shanghai or in the great hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic.

Program:
Classic. Mozart, Mahler & Co. Recomposed.
With violin, viola, accordion and double bass, the German-Serbian formation UWAGA! on an insane, anarchic foray through the classical repertoire.
