kammerkonzerte.koeln 2024: UWAGA! Quartett

Humboldt-Kammermusiksaal, Kartäuserwall 40, 50676 Köln

A virtuoso classical violinist with a penchant for Eastern European music, a jazz violinist with punk rock experience, a masterfully improvising accordionist with a Balkan sound in his blood and a bassist who feels just as much at home in symphony orchestras as he does in jazz combos or funk bands ... that's UWAGA! With their program Music: The Complete Story, they travel through music history in fast motion.

In 2007, four musicians who couldn't be more different plunged into the adventure of making music together. In the beginning, the pure joy of playing is the main focus - and it is effortlessly transferred to every audience. Over the years of making music together, the four musicians have influenced each other and their different stylistic focuses have grown together to create their very own sound, somewhere between classical, jazz, Balkan and pop music.

Tchaikovsky's ballet suites certainly have disco potential, Mahler composed masterful jazz themes and baroque is pure rock 'n' roll, according to the four musicians. You guessed it: the name UWAGA! - Polish and meaning ATTENTION - is the programme. For 10 years now, the four have been working with unbridled enthusiasm on their shared vision: music without boundaries that makes you happy, that goes straight to your heart and legs.

The musicians are able to maintain their unbridled enthusiasm effortlessly: in a world of music without borders, fortunately it never gets boring. And so the ensemble has delighted audiences at renowned festivals and concert halls such as: Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Expo in Shanghai, St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Schleswig Holstein Music Festival or Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

This concert is part of our new series Kölner Klassik © NRW 2024, where works of recent and new music that are outstanding in their quality and have a connection to NRW are performed side by side with more well-known chamber music. This concert features special compositions and arrangements by Christoph König and the UWAGA Quartet.
