MÖNCHENGLADBACH: Duo Kravets-Kassung

Schloss Rheydt Schlossstr. 508 41238 Mönchengladbach

At the castle concerts at Rheydt Castle in Mönchengladbach, Lena Kravets and Tobias Kassung present their programme "La lumière du sud - the light of the south", which is primarily dedicated to the masters of French music. With the rare combination of cello and guitar, the duo develops very individual programmes and delights audiences in numerous concerts throughout Germany.

The vastness of the French coast, the high, blue sky and the special light have always inspired French artists to create special works of art. In music, too, lightness merges with southern flair and the French way of life.
The Folias Variations by the great 17th century Parisian viola da gamba player Marin Marais form the introduction to a programme dedicated to the impressionist music of Fauré and Debussy as well as to the contemporary Parisian composer Mathias Duplessy. Music that combines flamenco elements, Brazilian bossa nova and French lightness with ravishing energy. With the "Capriccio à la lumière du sud" - a homage to the tango and the light of the south - Tobias Kassung has also written his own piece that musically encapsulates this rousing programme.

Marin Marais: Variations sur les Folies d‘Espagne;
Tobias Kassung: Capriccio à la lumière du sud, op. 16;
Gabriel Fauré: Après un rêve;
Claude Debussy: Claire de lune;
Mathias Duplessy: Sonate pour guitar et violoncelle en quatre rêves
