The Astor Trio is one of the most prominent line-ups within the Cologne Classical Ensemble. The unusual combination of violin, guitar and double bass has played its way into the elite of German chamber music ensembles. Since 2018, the trio has also performed in special programmes with cellist Lena Kravets. This is also the case in this programme, which focuses on the 250th anniversary of François de Fossa.
The French guitarist and contemporary of Mozart left behind outstanding works for chamber music ensembles with guitar. The Astor Trio will combine his Trio Concertante, Op, 18 with the Sonata in D major HWV 371 by George Frideric Handel. The German premiere of Parmis le vent by Parisian composer Mathias Duplessy and the continuation of Tobias Kassung's Buenos Aires Fantasie will also be performed. All this, combined with virtuoso music by Pablo de Sarasate and Astor Piazzolla, promises an unforgettable concert evening.
